Sunday, December 28 There was a good turnout at the Annual Christmas Party and General Meeting. The food was great and the White Elephant Auction was hilarious as usual. Many thanks to Jackie Duncan for hosting the event.
Saturday, December 20 Three club members braved the cold and snow and hiked the new "Maple Arch" trail at Panther Creek State Park near Morristown.
Saturday, December 13 Four persons planted 50 Chestnut Trees on a mountainside near the entrance of Paint Creek Recreation Area.
Sunday, December 7 Greeneville Christmas Parade. We had a good turnout for our "hike" down Main street.
Saturday, November 29 The hike on the Chimney Tops manway had to be moved because of inclement weather. Two hikers did a hike on the Indian Creek, Martin's Gap, Sunkota Ridge, Loop Trail, Stone Pile Gap and Thomas Divide Trails in the Smokies near Deep Creek Campground outside of Bryson City, N.C.
Saturday, November 22 Ten people went to the parking lot at the Brown Mountain Lights Overlook. Although the night was perfect for viewing, the "Lights" were not very cooperative. Before the "viewing", part of the group hiked at Linville Falls.
Sunday, November 9 A trail crew of eight blazed and relocated parts of the trail at Davy Crockett State Park, which our club has adopted.
Saturday, November 8 Eight club members hiked eight miles on the Meadow Creek Mountain Trail. The group hiked on the ridgeline from the Fire Tower to the trailhead on the Cedar Creek Cave Road.
Sunday, November 2 Eleven hikers did seven miles on the Appalachian Trail between Allen's Gap and the top of Camp Creek Bald.
Saturday, November 1 Seven bikers rode 35 miles from Whitetop Station to Abingdon, Virginia on the Virginia Creeper. Many thanks to Bill White for driving the shuttle van.
Sunday, October 25 The bike ride at Paint Creek was cancelled due to the drizzle, so four members did a rolling hike to Bumpas Cove near Erwin, Tennessee.
Saturday, October 25. Five persons hiked the Mingus Creek Trail in the Smokies near Cherokee and Bryson City, N.C. The group covered twelve miles with over 3000 feet of elevation gain and loss.
Wednesday, October 22. Five Wednesday Walkers hiked on the Paint Mountain Trail at Lone Pine Gap.
Sunday, October 19 Eight hikers did the lakeside trail at Bays Mountain, near Kingsport, Tennessee.
Saturday, October 18 Five club members hike about six miles on Holston Mountain between Elizabethton and Bristol, Tennessee.
Sunday, October 12 Two Greeneville Hiking Club members and three guests hiked to Mill Creek Falls on an old manway in the Cades Cove area of the Smokies. This beautiful and remote, falls is one of highest in the park, top to bottom. On the way to the fall, the group passed a giant tuliptree and a giant Chestnut Oak, reputedly the largest tree of this variety in the world.
Saturday, October 11 On a cool, overcast morning, eleven hikers climbed Max Patch Mountain, then hiked 5 1/2 miles to Lemon Gap on the Appalachian Trail.
Sunday, October 5. Eight hikers drove to Natural Tunnel State Park above Gate City Virginia. This a very beautiful and intersting area and the group hiked about three miles.
Saturday, October 4. Three club members and two guests hiked the "AT relo loop" on Big Firescald Knob.
Wednesday, October 1. Six person walked on the Tusculum Track.
