Friday, December 31 Twelve waterfall lovers made a return trip to Camp Creek Falls to get the GPS Coordinates.
Thursday, December 30 We had a great time at the Annual Christmas Party and had about 25 persons in attendance. Many thanks to Myra McCurry for hosting this event at her beautiful bed and breakfast.
Wednesday, December 29 Three club members did about ten miles on the Lower Mount Cammerer Trail near the Cosby Campground.
Tuesday, December 28 Four hikers did about five miles on the Cooper Creek, Deeplow Gap and Mingus Creek Trails between Bryson City and Cherokee in the Smokies.
Saturday, December 18 Seven hikers located the un-named waterfall above Camp Creek which we have tentatively named Camp Creek Falls. This falls is very impressive about 150 feet high and was frozen over making for a beautiful winter wonderland scene.
Wednesday, December 15 Three hikers went up to Sill Creek Falls off the Erwin Highway.
Sunday, December 12 We had five workers and one supervisor in attendance for the planting of the American Chestnut Trees. The club set out over 100 trees near the trailhead of the Little Paint Creek Trail about eight miles above the Paint Creek Campground.
Saturday, December 11 Because of very high water and snow in the higher elevations, the six hikers in attendance had to go to plan "C". They ended up hiking about ten miles on the Old Sugarlands, Twin Creeks and Gatlinburg Trails in the Smokies.
Sunday, December 5 We had a geat turnout and a perfect day for the Annual Greeneville Christmas Parade. The club again carried the giant American Flag and was led by Mrya McCurry's Land Rover piloted by Bill White.
Saturday, December 4 We had four members of the Greeneville Club and three visitors from Kingsport for the 8.5 mile search for Painter Creek Falls on the Greene/Washington County line. The group started from the Cassi Creek Trailhead and hiked up an old logging road requiring about ten creek crossings, then crossed a ridge on switchbacks while continuing on the old road to the falls. The last section required bushwhacking through solid rhododendron and a steep descent to the base of the falls. Everyone agreed that the hike was well worth the effort and found Painter Creek Falls to be one of the most impressive in the area.
Sunday, November 28 Eight Hikers went from Mill Ridge to Hot Springs on the Appalachian Trail.
Friday, November 26 Seven people hiked about 14 miles on the Rough Fork, Caldwell Fork and Hemphill Bald trails in the Smokies near Maggie Valley in North Carolina.
Sunday, November 21 Seven members of the Greeneville Hiking Club hiked about five miles on the Mill Ridge, Pump Gap and Appalachian Trails near Hot Springs, N.c.
Saturday, November 20 Four persons hiked to Rock Creek Falls above Erwin, Tennessee.
Sunday, November 14 We had eleven workers on the Margarette Falls Trail off Shelton Mission Road in the Greystone Area of Greene County. The Forest Service has recdntly improved the parking lot at the trailhead and, after our Sunday work trip, the trail is in much better shape and easier to follow than anytime before the floods of 2001. The trail will still involve a little climbing and rockhopping and a careful negotiation of some undercut trail banks. Please find time to check out this Beautiful Greene County Trail and Waterfall.
Saturday, November 13 Three hikers did about eight miles in the middle of the Old Settlers Trail between Greenbrier and Cosby in the G.S.M.N.P.
Sunday, November 7 Seven members did about 2.5 miles around the lake on Bays Mountain.
Saturday, November 6 Three hikers went from Weavers Bend to Paint Rock on the Chimney Rocks and Paint Creek Horse Trail.
Saturday, October 30 Five people hiked to the summit of Mt. Leconte and back. Three hiked up the Boulevard and down Alum Cave while the other two hiked up and down Alum.
October 23-24 Eight club members from Greeneville along with six from Knoxville spent a foggy weekend at the Overmountain Barn on the Appalachian Trail near Roan Mountain.
Sunday, October 17 Seven hikers had a pleasant outing on the Gabe's Mountain Trail in Cosby.
Sunday, October 10 A group of four hikers did a nine mile off trail hike in the Smokies from Elkmont to Tremont while two others chose the Meigs Mountain and Lumber Ridge Trails to cover the same area.
Saturday, October 9 Five hikers did about seven miles on the Mountain-To-Sea Trail just north of Asheville, N.C.
Sunday, October 3 Seven hikers made an exploratory trip in search of "Jacob's Ladder" Falls near Camp Creek.
Saturday, October 2 Five bikers rode from White Top Station to Abingdon. Virginia on the Virginia Creeper. Many thanks to Bill White and Myra McCurry for the shuttle.
