Saturday, December 3 Four hikers drove between Hot Springs and Del Rio, then up upper shut-in road to the Trailhead. They hiked up the Shut In Trail to its intersection with the AT at Garrenflo Gap, then continued on the AT to Hot Springs. The Shut In trail is very pleasant walking through a beautiful gorge punctuated with many creek crossings. At this time all the crossings were easily rock-hopped. The trail is about two miles in length.
