Sunday, June 27. Six hikers drove to Erwin and hiked up the Rattlesnake Ridge Trail to Dick Creek Falls.
Sunday, June 19. Six bicyclists rode about 20 miles in the Limestone area of Greene County.
Sunday, June 13. Seven club members and a guest from Gatlinburg hiked up the Mt. Sterling Trail to the fire tower and then descended to Big Creek on the Baxter Creek Trail. The flame azaleas and rhododendron were blooming nicely near the top. This was Linda Jones' final hike in her quest to hike all the trails in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Congratulations to Linda.
Saturday, June 12 Three hikers went to the top of Painter Creek on an eight mile hike and bushwhack. This trail is in pretty good shape for an unmaintained trail but does have a lot of creek crossing with a hike in the creek bed itself at the end. A rattlesnake was encountered near a small waterfall early in the hike.
Wednesday, June 9 There were two Wednesday Walkers on the trails at Bays Mountain outside of Kingsport.
Sunday, June 6 We had nine at the picnic at the Rocky Bluff Campground above Hot Springs, N.C. The group hiked the Van Cliff Loop Trail then feasted on Cajun hot dogs and slaw. The group would like to thank Pam Shelton, who brought by some some of her delicious potato salad, although she couldn't attend the picnic. ,
Saturday, June 5 Seven hikers did a very strenuous eight mile hike on Short Spur on top of Holston Mountain north of Elizabethton.
Monday, May 31. Four club members hiked about 13 miles in the Smokies on the Oconoluftee River, Fork Ridge and Deep Creek Trails.
Sunday, May 30. Six club members hiked from the Meadow Mountain Tower to the 107 Campground on the Meadow Creek Mountain and Gum Springs Trails.
Saturday, May 29. Four hikers checked out the Trail behind Davy Crockett State Park.
May 29-31. Six people did a backpacking trip in the Hazel Creek Section of the Smokies.
Sunday, May 23. Six Club members did a short hike from Lone Pine Gap before being driven from the trail by a thunderstorm.
Saturday, May 22. Six canoeists and one kayaker floated about 14 miles on the Nolichucky River from the dam to the takeout below the Easterly Bridge.
Wednesday, May 19. Five walkers did a hike on the old section of the AT on Camp Creek Bald.
Sunday, May 16. Seven people inspected and did some light maintenance on the club's section of the AT on Camp Creek Bald. The trail is in pretty good shape at present.
Saturday, May 15. Six club members attended Trail Days in Damascus, Virginia.
Wednesday, May 12 Eight Wednesday walkers did about four miles on the Little Paint Creek Trail.
Sunday, May 9. Four hikers did an unscheduled hike to Sill Creek Falls.
Saturday, May 8. Eight hikers followed the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail through Cumberland Gap. This easy trail of about five miles follows Boone's route through the mountains when he first explored Kentucky.
Sunday, May 2 It rained almost all day, but six hikers sloshed down the manways in Greenbrier along with a short stint on the Grapeyard Ridge Trail. One manway goes by five or six beautiful waterfalls and the other follows several sections of rock walls built by early settlers.
Saturday, May 1 The trillium were in full bloom and covered the mountainside on the wildflower hike on the AT from Max Patch to Lemon Gap. Eight hikers made the trek.
Sunday, April 25 Thirteen wildflower enthusiasts were on the short but showy walk up the Ashopper Branch Manway near the Sugarlands Visitor Center in the Smokies.
Saturday, April 24 We had eight members of the hiking club to participate in the MS Walk at Tusculum. After the walk, seven members did a short hike on the Hell Hollow Trail off the Clark Creek Road.
Sunday, April 18 Eight members of the club biked 24 miles in beautiful Camp Creek and Greystone sections of Greene County.
Saturday, April 17 Nine hikers hiked 6.5 miles on the AT south of Hot Springs, then returned to enjoy the Trail Fest activities, especially the Thai food booth.
Saturday, April 10 Five hikers did a short, exploratory trip on the Spruce Thicket Trail near Margarette Falls. This trail sustained quite a bit of damage from the flood, but is still one of the nicest "creekside" trails in the county.
Sunday, April 4 Eleven hikers went from Old Forge to Horse Creek on the Big Jennings Creek, Poplar Cove and Cold Spring Mountain Jeep Road.
Saturday, April 3 Nine hikers covered about thirteen miles in Cades Cove on the Indian Grave Gap, Rich Mountain, Scott Mountain and Schoolhouse Gap Trails.
